Before you start -
- You will need to upload a a copy of the plans/layout of the food premises in order for you application to be considered, so please have that ready
- You will be directly to our payment service on completion of this form to make the payment for the certificate of £176
If the premises is a new build or conversion do not apply for a Section 50 food certificate until the work is complete. However, you should contact Environmental Health as soon as possible as we can provide guidance about the layout, fixtures and fittings of the premises and about the laws relating to food hygiene and health and safety.
You will need to register the premises with Environmental Health as a food business 28 days before it begins trading - Food premises registration
If the premises is an existing food premises we may need to inspect the premises to check that it complies with the food hygiene legislation. We will not issue a certificate if it does not comply with this legislation. Please make sure you have provided contact details for the premises. If everything is satisfactory, we will issue a certificate which you must send with your application for an alcohol licence.
You can apply for a provisional alcohol licence without a Section 50 certificate from Environmental Health or Building Standards, but you will need a Section 50 certificate from the Planning Department.
